New York begins trimming goose population near airports

Officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture have begun rounding up the first of some 2,000 geese from public parks and other facilities in an effort to improve safety at New York airports. About 800 of the birds have been euthanized so far, eliciting protests from some animal-rights groups.
