Social networking still seeking foothold in enterprise market

Despite the hype surrounding social-networking and collaboration tools for business use, just 18% of firms have implemented such offerings, according to Forrester Research, with 63% saying they are not interested in the segment. For the organizers of the Enterprise 2.0 conference this week in Boston, the next big hope for growth in the market is the upcoming release of Microsoft's SharePoint 2010, which can be used as a collaboration and content management platform and has proved popular with Fortune 500 IT buyers.
