Fatal-auto-accident rates decline among older motorists, IIHS says

Fatal auto accidents involving drivers age 70 years and older declined by about 37% from 1997 to 2008, according to a report from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. "This isn't what we expected given driver demographics and other influences," said IIHS Senior Vice President Anne McCartt.
