FEMA administrator resents lapse in NFIP

Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Craig Fugate expressed frustration over the lapse in the National Flood Insurance Program and urged Congress' quick action on the program's reauthorization to help homes and businesses in Tennessee recover from recent flooding. "Where you're getting a federally backed mortgage or an SBA loan and you need flood insurance, you're currently not able to apply. We know this is a challenge, but we also know that congress is the one that [has] to reauthorize the flood insurance program so we can administer it," Fugate said.
