Security breakdowns are exposing private data

The tally of U.S. identity-theft victims increased 12% last year, and fraud reports increased 23%. Not all of these cases, however, can be traced to hackers: A great deal of private data is left unprotected on company websites, social networks and peer-to-peer sharing sites.
