South Dakota is recognized for special-education programs

South Dakota schools received high grades for their efforts to educate students with special needs under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Educators deserve credit for meeting students' individual needs and helping them succeed despite their challenges, one special-education director said. The state was among 16 that received the highest score in a federal evaluation.
