Transocean chief dismisses need for drilling stoppage

Steven Newman, CEO of Transocean, said the federal government did not need to impose a six-month ban on deepwater drilling after the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. "I think there are things the administration could implement that would allow the industry to go back to work tomorrow without an arbitrary six-month time lag," he said during a conference in London.
