U.S. still lacks an intermodal risk assessment, GAO finds

The Transportation Security Administration still has not completed a study that compares the threat level of aviation, rail, highways and pipelines, according to the Government Accountability Office. The GAO report comes three years after the TSA began its National Transportation Sector Risk Analysis. "Assessing the security risks of our various modes of transportation is essential to determining how best to deploy our limited resources," Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., said in response to the report's findings. As the ranking member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Mica urged the next TSA administrator to overhaul the agency's "top-heavy" management structure.
