For energy, eat small meals and include protein

When eating for energy, choose foods that are high in protein and low in concentrated carbohydrates, said Ellie Krieger, a registered dietitian and host of "Healthy Appetite With Ellie Krieger" on Food Network. American Dietetic Association spokesman Jim White recommended five small meals a day and said they should contain protein, complex carbohydrates and good fat.
