For energy, eat small meals and include protein

When eating for energy, choose foods that are high in protein and low in concentrated carbohydrates, said Ellie Krieger, a registered dietitian and host of "Healthy Appetite" on The Food Network. American Dietetic Association spokesman Jim White recommends five small meals a day, and said they should contain protein, complex carbohydrates and good fats.
