Museums turn to RFID to protect works of art

European museums are turning to RFID tags to protect artwork from thieves and to monitor environmental factors that may damage the priceless works. The tags use sensors that set off alarms when a piece is moved and also keep track of humidity and temperature changes. The wireless Zone Monitoring & Find technology was developed by Swiss telecommunications firm Albis Technologies.
