Maine school district chiefs endorse laptops in high schools

At least 47 Maine superintendents have agreed to expand the state's laptop program to high schools this fall, enhancing the Education Department's chances of striking a rental deal with Apple Computer Corp. The school chiefs' commitment also bolsters Gov. John Baldacci's plan to ask the Legislature next January to fund laptops for all public high schools in 2005-06.
