Planners face uphill battle in making Tysons Corner pedestrian-friendly

Planners in Fairfax County, Va., hope to transform the heavily congested Tysons Corner area into a pedestrian-friendly downtown in order for a $1.5 billion Metrorail extension planned for the area to succeed. The task will be a tremendous challenge because the area was laid out almost entirely with cars in mind.
