Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry recently signed a measure banning local governments from charging for the services of emergency personnel. The Oklahoma law comes hot on the heels of a similar measure taking effect in Florida, a move that met with approval from insurance trade groups. "People pay for police and fire services in their property taxes or in utility fees, or other methods," said PCI Assistant Vice President William Stander. "To charge someone to have police and fire respond to your car accident is just wrong. It's offensive."
