WTC development dispute unites longtime rivals

The ongoing dispute over redevelopment of the World Trade Center sites has allowed longtime adversaries New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver to find common ground. Last week, they released a joint statement criticizing the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for its refusal to guarantee financing for two office towers at the site. At this point, the Port Authority has agreed to guarantee financing for just one tower.
