ACC: Proposed Superfund tax penalizes innocent companies

The American Chemistry Council and the American Petroleum Institute are protesting an Environmental Protection Agency request to Congress to reinstate a tax on oil, natural gas and chemical companies to pay for the cleanup of the country's worst hazardous-waste sites. The Superfund tax would be unfair because it financially penalizes companies that have done no wrong and hurts their competitiveness in the international arena, the trade groups said.
