Despite increased regulatory scrutiny from Sarbanes-Oxley and now likely from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, issuances on the New York Stock Exchange have not suffered, says Ronald Bohlert, director of NYSE Euronext. "While overseas markets have provided investors with other eligible sources for issuances, we still see foreign companies looking to tap into the U.S. market," he says. Real estate, in particular, is seeking investor dollars. This year, nine REITs have filed initial public offerings looking to raise a total of $3.3 billion, he says.
