Caterpillar unit is seeking facility to build trains, sources say

Caterpillar subsidiary Electro-Motive Diesel might expand its headquarters in McCook, Ill., to assemble locomotives, sources said. The company would need a domestic manufacturing facility to qualify for a stimulus program, which is allocating more than $8 billion for rail projects. The expansion could be a boon to the state's job market, with manufacturing workers at Electro-Motive earning $14.50 to $18.50 per hour.
