CIOs worry they can't keep up with Google

The Web- and cloud-based services users are exposed to outside the office, such as Google Docs and Facebook, can make IT-driven projects look meager and sluggish in comparison, Red Hat chief executive Jim Whitehurst said. He argues that open-source, modular software offers a solution that can be customized within internal IT departments, allowing them to keep up with cloud-based services without being locked into a given cloud.
