CMS to pilot fraud-tracking technology

CMS is set to test software designed to track potential fraud in administering stimulus incentive payments and in inaccurate payments to Medicare and Medicaid providers. The technology "gathers enormous quantities of information -- in real time -- and then analyzes the data and helps connect the dots to identify indicators of possible fraud or error," said Peter Orzsag, director of the Office of Management and Budget.
