Despite an economy that seemingly is improving at a snail's pace, the consumer-electronics sector is performing reasonably well, according to Shawn DuBravac, the chief economist of the CEA. "Technology has held up well," he said. "We saw unit volume of flat-screen TVs rise 19% last year. That's incredible in this climate. ... Part of it, I think, is that technology is being perceived as more of a necessity, as opposed to a luxury."
