Survey: People are willing to cut back to save the planet

Nearly 80% of Americans say they're willing to change their lifestyles in order to curb energy use -- to help the environment and bolster economic growth, according to a new poll, commissioned by General Electric. Smart-meter systems get a thumbs-up from almost nine out of 10 respondents -- good news for companies such as GE that are investing heavily in grid-aware appliances and home-heating systems.
