AmEx will trade points for check-ins in Foursquare partnership

American Express is partnering with location-based social site Foursquare to give cardholders discounts when they check in at certain restaurants and retailers. The credit card company hopes to win over younger, tech-savvy consumers, while Foursquare, which doesn't earn revenue from the deal, looks to boost membership and gain credibility to obtain lucrative partnerships.
