Report: Science focus should be increased in schools

Science should be taught and tested with the same rigor and frequency as math and reading in the country's schools, a new report by the National Research Council recommends. The report also calls for new tests that promote more in-depth learning of STEM subjects -- science, technology, engineering and math. The NRC has been charged with researching the country's best STEM teaching practices and programs amid concerns that U.S. schools are falling short on preparing students for STEM-related careers.
