Snub-nosed dogs are especially prone to overheating

Rising summer temperatures are potentially dangerous for all pets, but brachycephalic dogs are especially susceptible to the ill effects of extreme heat, says veterinarian Ann Hohenhaus. The facial construction of these snub-nosed animals makes them more prone to overheating and breathing difficulties that can lead to more serious problems, said Dr. Hohenhaus, who advises owners to take measures to keep their pets cool.
