CT scans are still common among youths with headaches

Computed tomography scans are not advised for children who suffer from headaches, but 26% of 15,836 3- to 17-year-olds who visited a doctor at least twice for a headache had been given at least one CT scan, a study showed. Patients taken to the emergency department for their headache got the most CT scans, while those who saw a neurologist had the least number of scans compared with other doctors. The findings appear in the journal Pediatrics.
