Basic chemicals are becoming a growth driver for the German chemical industry as the sector experiences a renaissance, according to this analysis. German chemical producers are recovering from the economic crash in 2009 as the industry records double-digit operating margins and increases in sales. Sales by the country's chemical firms made up 29% of the overall chemical sales in Europe in 2011, according to the European Chemical Industry Council.
