You should probably ditch the startup label once your business has achieved a certain amount of financial success, experts say. "If your real intention is to grow, you don't want to stagnate by staying in that startup-phase mentality," said Donald F. Kuratko of Indiana University. In addition, investors may be wary of companies that incorrectly refer to themselves as startups, Kuratko notes.
