NYC, Phoenix and Chicago lose the most revenue to online sales

U.S. cities and counties lost $2.8 billion in 2011 and 2012 combined due to online retail sales that did not impose local sales taxes, according to a report by the U.S. Conference of Mayors. New York City is believed to have lost the most revenue in 2012 at $205 million. Phoenix lost $18 million and Chicago $17 million.
