Tim Hortons will use new approach for U.S. expansion

The coffee-and-doughnut franchise holds an iconic status in its native Canada, even though Wendy's International purchased the chain in 1995. Wendy's plans to open 240 U.S. stores by 2007 and will promote the expansion with a marketing campaign touting Hortons' community ties, rather than its Canadian heritage.
