U.K. council cautiously endorses biotech crops

The U.K.'s Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council recommended the country go ahead with developing biotech crops, but suggested they be kept at least 100 meters away from non-biotech crops. The council issued the recommendation at the end of a five-year study of biotech crop safety and said the government should take steps to convince the public the crops are safe and valuable.
