Hotel-tax increase would rank Philly among highest in nation

A measure that would allow officials in Philadelphia to impose a "hospitality promotion tax" of up to 1.5% would add $2 to the average daily rate of a hotel room in the city, bringing the tax rate to 15.5%. That would rank Philadelphia behind only Houston, San Antonio and Seattle as having the country's highest hotel tax.
