Federal government awards five leases for wind energy

The federal government awarded five leases -- the first of their kind in the U.S. -- to explore wind energy in the Northeast. Wind-energy companies will collect data on building wind farms off the coasts of New Jersey and Delaware. "We are entering a new day for energy production in the United States -- a time of clean energy from renewable domestic sources on our Outer Continental Shelf," said Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.
