Interoperability seen as key to stimulus funds for hospitals

U.S. hospitals that fail to adopt interoperability to share data with other facilities will likely miss out on billions of stimulus dollars, according to David Blumenthal, the government's national coordinator for health information technology. Major hospital companies in Texas are implementing electronic health records and are urging their affiliated physicians to do the same.
