Lawmaker proposes insurance tax equity for self-employed

U.S. Rep. Betsy Markey, D-Colo., said this week that she will co-sponsor legislation aimed at leveling the playing field for the self-employed, who have to pay taxes on health care premiums while corporations get to deduct them from their payroll tax bills. NFIB's Susan Eckerly says the bill would correct an inequity in tax treatment and make health care more affordable for the self-employed.
