SEC to propose tighter rules for money market mutual funds

After one of the biggest money market mutual funds in the country "broke the buck" last year, the Securities and Exchange Commission is looking to put greater restrictions on the funds, sources said. The SEC's changes are not expected to force the funds to perform like traditional investment products. Instead, the proposed rules would aim to make the funds less vulnerable to market turmoil.
