Airport designers chart course for a sustainable future

Airport architects gathered at a conference in New York this week to discuss ways of making the area's big airports more sustainable. Natural lighting, renewable energy and the use of green materials such as bamboo are likely to play roles in the next version of airports, experts said, while building information modeling will allow developers to do more work off-site, reducing waste and disruption.
