Blog: Flight diversions complicate tarmac-delay rules:

Virgin Atlantic has come under withering criticism for a four-hour tarmac delay in Connecticut, but the situation shows that "airports need to be better prepared if they are going to be diversion points for airline flights," according to Wall Street Journal airline columnist Scott McCartney. In addition, airlines must plan better for the possibility of diversions, allowing them to get to airports with the infrastructure they need to de-plane passengers quickly and safely.
