Candy and gum sales are up 7.3%

Sales of candy and gum grew 7.3% in the four weeks ending May 16, lifting annual sales into positive territory for both dollars and units, says the National Confectioners Association. Dollar sales of nonchocolate candy grew 5.3%, while sugarless gum sales were up 4.8% in the four-week period.
