When Denny's designed its Fresh Express quickservice concept, the company took a balanced approach designed to preserve the brand's personality in a much smaller setting, said VP Greg Powell. The need to create portable food sparked innovation, resulting in a slimmed-down menu featuring new items such as the Grand Slamwich, a panini version of the casual chain's trademark breakfast dish.
