DOT backs off peanut ban for U.S. flights

The Department of Transportation will not pursue a rule to ban peanuts on U.S. flights. The department said it did not have the legal authority for the proposed rulemaking. The DOT had originally proposed the rule earlier this month in response to passengers with peanut allergies.
