S.C. lab tests materials in hurricane-force winds

A South Carolina lab is testing building materials and assemblies for durability in hurricanes and severe storms. The $40 million facility is owned by the Institute for Building and Home Safety, an insurance industry group. The lab's technology includes a 42,000-square-foot wind machine that blasts materials with winds of up to 140 mph.
