U.S. launches interagency IP defense plan

The Obama administration is rolling out a plan to tackle intellectual-property issues, in an attempt to clamp down on online piracy and counterfeit pharmaceuticals, among other violations. Legislation suggested as part of the plan would require companies to report fake products and would introduce tracking systems for drugs and electronics. "Whether we're talking about fake drugs that hurt instead of help the patient, or knockoff car tires that fall apart at 65 miles an hour causing injury and death, counterfeits kill," said Vice President Joe Biden.
