When the golden rule doesn't apply

A business philosophy based on the golden rule -- deal with clients the way you would want to be dealt with -- works only as long as your staff members can put themselves in the customer's shoes. "If your clients have a champagne mentality and members of your staff don't, then problems can arise," writes Gladys Edmunds. She suggests fully training employees to teach them how you expect them to perform.
