Alpina says jobs, sales surpassed projections

Alpina Foods' job creation and products sales have exceeded its projections since it launched its new yogurt plant in Batavia, N.Y. In addition, the new plant is using waste acid whey to create electricity -- through a process that sends the whey, along with cow manure, into a biodigester that turns the waste products into methane gas. The gas then gets turned into electricity.
