Facebook reportedly plans new Reader app

Facebook reportedly is working on a Flipboard-style RSS reader, with the product-development team operating under the personal oversight of CEO Mark Zuckerberg. A successful RSS feature might help Facebook "retrain" users to see Facebook as a hub for news and content, potentially making the site more attractive to advertisers, said Nate Elliot of Forrester. "The opportunity to own the place where people go for long-form reading is a very large opportunity, especially for advertising," says venture capitalist Josh Elman.
