NPD: U.S. diners' average check rose slightly

The average per-person restaurant check at U.S. eateries rose 2.53% to $6.48 in the first quarter compared to the same period last year, according to new data from NPD Group. Australian consumers spent the most on dining out, and Chinese diners saw the biggest increase with a jump of 46%.
