Opinion: EPA proposal on corn fiber needs careful analysis by industry

The ethanol industry must carefully consider a proposed Environmental Protection Agency rule that would qualify corn fiber as a feedstock for cellulosic ethanol, writes Holly Jessen. Scott Kohl, technical director of ICM, says the proposal's language must be carefully crafted so as not to give the impression that the industry is bending the rules to gain advanced-biofuel status for products under the Renewable Fuel Standard. Comments on the proposed rule will be accepted until July 15.
