Profits come to Classic Caramel for the first time

York, Pa.-based Classic Caramel is seeing profits for the first time after acquiring Lukas Confections four years ago. The company updated and streamlined operations and also produces several private brand lines, including Slo Poke and Black Cow caramel bars. The company expects to produce more than 3 million pounds of caramel and taffy this year. "Although we've made significant strides, it's barely in the black," said Kevin Silva, senior vice president for administration with parent company The Warrell Corp.
