Researchers in Italy test fiber mixes for sustainable concrete

The creation of a sustainable concrete mix that uses "recycled industrial fibers" is the subject of a research project at the University of Salerno in southern Italy. Researchers are analyzing "how much recycled fiber we can add to the concrete while preserving its quality and resilience," says Enzo Martinelli, a civil engineer at the university. The sustainable product could be used for several purposes such as a reinforcement material for existing buildings, Martinelli says.
